EU Right of Withdrawal

This page is for consumers resident in the European Union. It explains your statutory right of withdrawal, also called the cooling-off period, under EU Directive 2011/83/EU, and sets out exactly what we refund and what we do not. We comply fully with EU consumer law. This right is separate from our Satisfaction Guarantee and our standard Returns & Exchanges policy.

Your 14-day right to withdraw

If you are an EU consumer, you may withdraw from an eligible purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. The 14 days start on the day you, or someone you name, take physical possession of the goods. When an order is delivered in separate parts, the period starts when the last item arrives. To meet the deadline, send your withdrawal notice before the 14 days end.

Which items are covered, and inspecting your order

You are welcome to open the packaging and inspect any item, just as you could in a shop, and you keep your right to withdraw. The only exception set by law is for sealed goods that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons: if such an item has a hygiene seal and that seal has been removed or broken, it is no longer eligible. Most of our catalog carries a hygiene seal. This exception is set in Article 16(e) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU.

  • You may open the outer packaging and examine an item to check what it is and how it works, and still withdraw.
  • If an item has a hygiene seal, breaking or removing that seal ends the right to withdraw it, for health and hygiene reasons.
  • This is shown here and on our product pages before you buy, as the law requires.

What we refund

For an eligible withdrawal made in time, and once we have the goods back, we refund everything you paid to us:

  • The price you paid for the returned goods.
  • Any sales tax or VAT we collected from you at checkout on those goods.
  • The cost of delivery, up to the price of our least expensive standard delivery option. If you chose a faster or upgraded shipping method, the extra amount above standard delivery is not refunded.

Your refund goes back to the same payment method you used, with no fee from us for the refund itself. This follows Article 13 of EU Directive 2011/83/EU, which requires us to reimburse the payments we received from you, including standard delivery, and you can read it in plain terms at Your Europe.

What we do not cover

The only amounts we cannot refund are the ones you paid to someone other than us. The law requires us to reimburse the payments we received from you, not charges collected by third parties, so the following are outside your refund:

  • Import duties, tariffs, and import taxes levied by your national, regional, or local customs or tax authority, together with any customs clearance, brokerage, or handling fees charged by the carrier. You paid these to the authority or the carrier, not to us, so they are not part of the payment we received and we do not refund them. In many EU countries you can reclaim import VAT or duty on goods you return directly from your own customs or tax authority, and we will provide proof of your withdrawal to support that claim.
  • Return shipping. You pay the direct cost of sending the goods back to us. We recommend a tracked, insured service, since the goods are your responsibility until they reach us. This is set in Article 14 of the Directive.
  • Any loss in value of the goods caused by handling beyond what is needed to check their nature, characteristics, and function. We may reduce your refund to reflect this, as allowed by Article 14 of the Directive.

When you receive your refund

We issue your refund without undue delay, and in any case within 14 days of the day we receive the goods back or you give us proof you have returned them, whichever comes first. You must send the goods back without undue delay and within 14 days of telling us you wish to withdraw.

Outside the window, or once a hygiene seal is broken

If your 14 days have passed, or your item is a sealed hygiene product whose seal has been removed, the statutory right of withdrawal no longer applies. Our standard Returns & Exchanges policy applies instead, which resolves eligible requests with store credit or exchange rather than a cash refund. Common questions

Can I open the item and still withdraw?

Yes. You may open the packaging and inspect an item to see what it is and how it works, just as you could in a shop, and still withdraw. The exception is an item with a hygiene seal: once that seal is removed, it is no longer eligible. We may reduce a refund for handling beyond what is needed to inspect the item.

What does BoyZShop refund if I withdraw in time?

For an eligible, in-time withdrawal we refund the price of the returned goods, any sales tax or VAT we collected at checkout, and the cost of our least expensive standard delivery. If you chose a faster or upgraded delivery, the amount above standard delivery is not refunded.

Do you refund customs duties, tariffs, or import taxes?

Any sales tax or VAT we collected from you at checkout is included in your refund. Duties, tariffs, import taxes, and customs or brokerage fees that you paid to a carrier or to your national, regional, or local authority are not refundable by us, because they were not paid to us. You may be able to reclaim import VAT or duty on returned goods from your own customs authority, and we will provide proof of withdrawal to help.

Who pays to return the goods?

You do. You bear the direct cost of returning the goods. We recommend a tracked service, since the goods remain your responsibility until they reach us.

Can my refund be reduced?

Yes. We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling the goods beyond what is needed to check their nature, characteristics, and function.
