Quick fixes and care tips for your BoyzShop purchases, from a toy that will not power on to choosing the right lube and caring for leather and rubber. If none of this solves it, our Customer Care team is here to help.
Toy will not turn on
Most power issues come down to the batteries. Work through these in order:
- Try fresh batteries. Use new alkaline batteries, and remove them whenever the toy is not in use, since some toys drain even when off.
- Check size and quantity. Different toys use different sizes and counts. Confirm against the product listing.
- Check the orientation. Look for the markings in or around the compartment to seat the batteries the right way.
- Remove the tab. Bullet and peanut vibes often ship with a paper or plastic strip in the compartment that must be pulled out.
- Seat the cap. On screw cap toys, tighten or slightly loosen the cap to make the connection. A gentle tug on a compressed compartment spring can also help.
- Use alkaline, not rechargeable, batteries. Rechargeables can be a touch larger and may stop the compartment from closing properly.
Rechargeable toys
Some rechargeable toys arrive partially charged. If yours powers on out of the box, run it until it is fully depleted before the first charge. Most toys need roughly 6 to 8 hours to charge unless the packaging says otherwise.
My toy has a smell
Rubber, PVC, and vinyl items often have a faint odor from the material itself. Let the item air out, then rinse it in warm water with a little baking soda. The smell fades with regular cleaning using warm water and an antibacterial toy cleaner.
Choosing the right lube
A simple rule is that like dissolves like. Water based lube is the safe default and works with every material, including silicone toys and latex condoms. Silicone lube will ruin silicone and Cyber-skin toys. Oil based lube weakens latex condoms and should never be paired with them. Read the label: cyclomethicone, simethicone, or dimethicone means silicone based, and petroleum ingredients mean oil based.
Sizing and fit
Cock ring sizing
A cock ring should fit snugly. Measure around the cock and balls at the base, behind the scrotum, then divide by 3.1. That number is the ring diameter you want.
Dildos for a harness
Any dildo with a flared base works in a harness, and one with balls and a flared top works well too. The flare keeps it from slipping through the ring. Silicone models are a strong pick.
Chastity device wear
Some devices are more discreet than others. Soft or silicone cages suit short scenes. For longer wear, look for low profile, highly adjustable poly acrylic devices, which are durable and barely detectable under clothing.
